So where do you go if you feel like you have lost God?

Growing up in a religious community is wonderful…until it isn’t.  You grow up, follow the rules, find God, and feel as if you have all the answers until something in life hits you so hard that you’re left gasping for air, grasping for the comfort of the life you knew, and wondering if God is so great after all. All the “right” answers don’t seem to work anymore.  And every concept you have used to comfort yourself in the past seems stale, childlike, or just ridiculous in the context of what you are going through.  But rethinking your thinking after a religious breakdown is nearly as exhausting and confusing as the original trauma.  It can feel as if you have lost your map. However, NLP can help you find that map because it is based on the fact that…

We do what we do because we feel the way we feel.

We feel the way we feel because we think the way we think.

We think the way we think because we believe the way we believe.

This means that rethinking how we believe can have dramatic affects on our thoughts, feelings, and ultimately our behaviors.  Though it is normal to begin questioning the beliefs and rules of people who have caused you trauma, it is also extremely confusing to attempt to truly reevaluate your belief processes. This is why a religious breakdown can be so life altering. The questions, the reevaluation, the freedom and fear of living outside the bubble of your former community can leave you feeling as if you are stuck, vulnerable, and unable to move forward. Bounce Back coaching can help you create a mental map to help you find what you truly believe and who you really are despite a difficult religious experience.

Life coaching involves a regularly scheduled 60-minute phone call every two weeks and a check in email in between sessions.  During this time we will discuss the following:

  1. Clarify what you want moving forward in your spiritual life.
  2. Assess where you currently are in your beliefs.
  3. Review what current beliefs are holding you back.
  4. Create an action plan to create safe spiritual spaces, both personally and collectively.
  5. Strategize ways to keep you motivated and connected.
  6. Celebrate the awesome successes you have along the way.
